VIRCO MFG. RE-COMMITS TO TORRANCE, CA;
EXTENDS LEASE FOR 559,000 SQUARE FOOT FACILITY

TORRANCE, CA – Underlining its re-commitment to their U. S. headquarters in Torrance, CA, Virco Mfg. Corporation has signed a five-year lease extension for its existing 559,000 square foot facility in that city, announces The Klabin Company, a member of CORFAC International.
Todd Taugner, SIOR, a partner in The Klabin Company’s Torrance office, reports that Virco Mfg. Corporation will continue to occupy a building at 2027 Harpers Way in Torrance.
Taugner and David Prior, SIOR, president of The Klabin Company, represented both Virco Mfg. Corporation and AMB Property Corporation, the property owner. Lease consideration was $19.1 million.
Virco Mfg. Corporation’s headquarters is a concrete tilt-up structure featuring 50,640 square feet of office space, 31 feet of warehouse clear height, 35 truck high loading positions, and on-site parking for over 500 vehicles. Approximately 425 people are employed at the site.

Commenting on the lease extension, Bob Dose, Virco’s chief financial officer, said: “Virco’s West Coast location provides lead-time and service advantages to our many education customers west of the Rockies, despite short-term budget issues affecting expenditures by schools. A “Green” benefit of the lease extension involves continuing to minimize fuel consumption for deliveries, especially compared to competitors located outside our region.
