MARINA DEL REY, CA – In a relocation and expansion of its headquarters from Santa Monica, CA to Marina del Rey, CA that will enable it to diversify its services, 740 Sound Design has leased 9000 square feet of space in what is termed a “highly creative environment”, announces The Klabin Company.
Doug Marshall, a principal in The Klabin Company’s Los Angeles office, reports that 740 Sound Design has leased space in a larger building located at 12509 Beatrice St., adjacent to the Playa Vista community. Scott Ganary, executive producer of 740 Sound Design, reports that a mid-July occupancy is scheduled concurrent with ongoing tenant improvements.
Marshall represented Grosvenor Property Company, the landlord. Rick Heller and Jeff Bonk of Urban West represented the tenant. Consideration for the 10-year lease was approximately $2 million.
740 Sound Design was created in 2001 to provide feature film quality sound design for commercials by Ganary and Academy Award winning sound designer Dane Davis. 740, whose name derives from the speed of sound, has produced sound design for well over 1000 commercials for a vast and impressive clientele, according to its web site.
Commenting on the expansion/relocation to Marina del Rey, Ganary said: “The move enables us to expand into mixing and recording services. It also places us in close proximity to advertising agencies, related creative entities, and a new creative park.”
Marshall added that the building being occupied by 740 Sound Design was formerly the annex for celebrated architect Frank Gehry and is adjacent to Gehry’s world headquarters, TBWA\Chiat\ Day and “Rhythm and Hughes”.
He explained that the 740 Sound Design building features high volume ceilings and generous areas of open space typical of creative environments.
